Open call for student team competition

To the Yale Student Community,

This past May, President Salovey announced an extraordinary gift from Yale alumnus Stephen A. Schwarzman ’69 to create a world-class campus center by renovating the historic Commons and Memorial Hall. Beyond a substantial gift to transform these buildings, Mr. Schwarzman’s gift also includes a significant commitment for programming in the center when it opens.

As co-chairs of the Schwarzman Center Advisory Committee, we have been seeking to ensure that undergraduate, graduate and professional school student ideas inform every aspect of the new Center’s design, technologies and programming.

As one among many activities designed to generate student input and feedback, we are announcing The Big Ydea, a one-day team brainstorming competition event on February 20. See the poster below for details – any group of up to four current students from any Yale school may form a team and enter by registering here. By a separate mailing, the competition organizers will reach out to every student organization on the campus that might wish to sponsor a team.

We hope you will take this opportunity or one of the many others being provided over the next year to help us imagine a Center that will bring students together across the university for the arts, for the exploration of ideas and for exceptional social events and spaces.

Sincerely,

Lynn Cooley, Dean of the Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences

Jonathan Holloway, Dean of Yale College
