Note: Information on the departments participating in fall online placement exams and updates to the Placement Exams and Information webpage will be posted shortly
Several departments are offering online placement exams at the end of October ahead of Preference Selection and course registration for spring 2024 courses.
These exams are intended only for students who were unable to take a placement exam over the summer.
Placement exam results will be released on October 30, 2023, by 5:00 p.m.
Notes
- Only some students may need to take a placement exam this fall (mainly students with prior study of a subject but who did not take a placement exam in that subject or receive a departmental placement within the past year)
- Students who received a summer 2023 departmental placement in chemistry, economics, mathematics, or physics do not need to take a placement exam now; however, the mathematics placement exam is open this fall for students who did not receive a departmental placement or who missed the summer 2023 math placement exam
- Some language programs that do not participte in the standard placement exam process may allow placement exams by request; please use the contact information on the Placement Exams and Information webpage or consult the director of undergraduate studies to inquire
- Students wishing to begin a new language but who do not have prior study of that language simply enroll in L1; no placement exam is required
- Students with documented disabilities may request accommodations for placement testing through the Student Accessibility Services office. Please contact the SAS office through the online registration form to submit your request at least one week before your placement test
