Fall Placement Exams

Several departments are offering fall placement exams in advance of spring 2026 course registration:

• Chinese
• French
• German
• Hebrew
• Italian
• Mathematics
• Portuguese
• Spanish

Given that placement exam results are generally valid for one year, most first-year students and sophomores will not need a fall placement exam.

• A fall placement exam is needed for first-year students only in the case that you missed the summer 2025 placement exams and seek to enroll for the first time in courses in the subject areas listed above
• A fall placement exam is needed for sophomores only in the case that you  took a placement exam in summer 2024 but seek to enroll in courses in that subject area in spring 2026, after a lapse of more than one year. In that case you may need a placement exam, depending on the coursework you have completed in the meantime.

Placement exam results will be posted by Friday, November 14, at 5:00 pm.
