Sophomore-Year College Advising Forms Due

Event time:
Saturday, May 6, 2023 - 5:00pm
Event description:

All first-year students must submit a Sophomore-Year College Advising form. It’s key for your current adviser and your residential college dean to know your advising plans for next year, and completing the form will take you approximately 2-3” to complete.

Students in the Class of 2026 received a link to the form in an email from forms@yale.edu (the subject line was “Invitation to Sophomore-Year College Advising Form”).

The Sophomore-Year College Advising form allows first-years to:

  • confirm that they want to remain with their current adviser (their “college adviser,” selected for them by their residential college dean), and get confirmation from their adviser

OR

  • invite a faculty member to be their new sophomore-year adviser, and receive that person’s confirmation. Please note that, if a student switches to a new adviser, the new adviser must be a faculty member.

Once a student submits their form, it automatically goes to their current or prospective adviser for confirmation via their electronic signature. If the student’s designated adviser agrees, it then goes to the student’s residential college dean’s office for record-keeping. If the designated adviser does not agree, the form is returned to the student so they can indicate another prospective adviser and resubmit it.

The form also features a text box for a note or comment for the current or prospective adviser.

First-years with a declared major do not submit this form: once a student declares a major, the DUS or the DUS’s designee becomes the student’s official adviser.

See the Sophomore-Year College Advising FormSelecting an Advisor, or Your College Adviser for more information.

Students who encounter tecnical issues should email ycwebdept@yale.edu.
